4Receiver lags and freezes
By Hotpot
I just got it on my new car. The system freezes and lags. It is slow. It restarts all the time, and all around, it is just bad. I can't input 4 addresses into the GPS address book at one time. Once I do, it freezes and reboots. When I start my car, the map loads forever. And I have to restart the NAV to get it working. I went back to the dealer and tested the demo. The demo did the same thing. Model DNX9980HD performed well without these problems. I hope Kenwood has a software fix soon. Otherwise, I will have to go with another brand.UPDATE - got an unofficial software fix and it seem to have resolved the issues. overall the receiver is a bit slow. a faster processor would be nice. love the garmin gps software. traffic works well when driving in la. bluetooth works great and everything else function as it should. bumping it up to 4 stars from previous 2 stars.

1Very slow and crashes while navigating
By Charles T. Howard
I cannot believe Kenwood released this head unit with the current hardware\firmware. It is very, very slow to respond to touch input. Selecting a track from a CD can take up to 5 seconds, and the system takes about 2-3 minutes to re-route a missed turn during navigation. Additionally, the unit has crashed twice on my while navigating. I used to be a big fan of Kenwood head units, but this unit's lack of performance and stability issues has really turned me off to the brand. For a product with a > $1000.00 MSRP, it is an insult that Kenwood released it to the market as-is.

1not recommended
By Andrew K. Putnam
Just got the dnx6980 about a month ago for my jeep. I would strongly suggest looking for a different unit. the system lags horrible, when it isn't locking up or restarting. The GPS has to recalculate routes every time you turn it on (which takes about 3 minutes)- clearly the processor is weak and can't be upgraded. they claim to have a software update out, but I can't locate it (Kenwood's website is not helpful, it directs you to garmin- which doesn't list the unit)sound is ok, though less powerful than the factory unit.ipod connection (hardwire) takes a minute to "read the ipod" each time you start up (and it has to launch the garmin).overall, I'd give it an F- would take it back if I could.
